Man Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley man was killed during a large house fire overnight. The fire took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8 on Babes Lanes in the town of Newburgh. Police and firefighters responded to a home on Babes Lane after receiving 911 calls reporting smoke and fire, said Lt. Peter Talarico, of the town of Newburgh Police. Police arrived to find one of the five occupants had not emerged from the house safely. Unfortunately, the victim, identified as Michael Gida, age 64, succumbed to the fire and smoke, Talarico said. Poughkeepsie House Fire Displaces Family Of Four A two-alarm fire in the City of Poughkeepsie displaced three children and one adult, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department. Firefighters received notice of the fire around 11:38 a.m. Wednesday at 22 Bement Ave., said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. Fire Breaks Out In Poughkeepsie Duplex Five adults and four children were left homeless after a fire ripped through a two-story duplex in the City of Poughkeepsie. The fire, which started around 6:10 p.m. Monday, at 64 Talmadge St., began on the second-floor of the four-unit building, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. When crews arrived on scene they could see flames and smoke coming from the second-floor windows, he said. All of the residents were able to self-evacuate as firefighters arrived, he said.
