Northern Westchester Homeless Shelter To Be Run By New Operator, Officials Report
Officials shared plans to change the operator of a Northern Westchester homeless shelter. According to a WARN Notice posted on Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Westchester County Department of Social Services has not renewed its contract with Volunteers of America-Greater New York to operate the Grasslands Homeless Shelter in Valhalla. Inmate Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Officers At Westchester County Jail
An inmate at the Westchester County Jail is set to spend more time behind bars after admitting to assaulting a pair of corrections officers in separate incidents in the past year. John Wooten, an inmate at the jail, has pleaded guilty to two counts of assault for attacking officers in December last year and in January. Wooten was being held at the jail on a felony criminal mischief charge dating back to an incident last December at the Grasslands Homeless Shelter in Valhalla.
