Firefighters raced to a golf course clubhouse in Northern Westchester after a dryer fire filled the building with smoke. The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Monday, Nov. 4 just before 8:45 a.m., when a blaze began inside a dryer at the Hudson National Golf Course's clubhouse, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Firefighter Falls Through Floor While Battling Blaze At North Salem Home
A firefighter fell through a floor during the response to a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence. The blaze began on Tuesday, Oct. 29 inside the laundry room at a North Salem home on Nash Road, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department. Lifelong Firefighter Who Served Northern Westchester Department For Over 60 Years Dies
A fire department in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of one of its beloved life members who spent more than six decades helping his community. The death of David Brown, a life member of the Bedford Hills Fire Department, was announced on Sunday, Sept. 22. His age was not made public. Brown originally joined the department in March 1963 and served for a total of 61 years. Firefighters raced to a nursing home in Westchester after a fire began in its attic. The blaze broke out just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Atria Woodlands assisted living facility at 1017 Saw Mill River Rd. Thanks to quick action from firefighters, a Northern Westchester home remained unscathed after a car burst into flames inside its garage. A beloved firefighter and veteran from Westchester is being remembered for his lifetime of service to others and his legendary clam-shucking skills. Rye Brook resident Raymond Nethercott, the most senior member of the Port Chester Fire Department's Washington Engine & Hose Co. #4, died on Wednesday, June 26 at the age of 92, according to his obituary. Passenger Rescued From Crashed Vehicle On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester
A person was hospitalized after being rescued from a crashed car on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester. The incident happened on Saturday, June 22 around 12:15 a.m., when a car crashed on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway just north of Exit 25, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department. Arriving fire crews found that one person was still trapped in the car, which had crashed off the roadway. Firefighters then used hurst tools to extricate the passenger. After the rescue, the passenger was taken to a nearby hospital. The cause of the crash was not released.
