Ben & Jerry’s Co-Founder Quits, NY Native Blames Parent Company For Silencing Brand After nearly five decades, Ben & Jerry's co-founder Jerry Greenfield has resigned, saying the popular ice cream company has been silenced politically under its corporate ownership. Greenfield's resignation letter was posted on the website FreeBenAndJerrys.com on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The 74-year-old Long Island native created Ben & Jerry's with Ben Cohen back in 1978. Ossining HS Wins Most Successful School Award At Genius Olympiad Ossining High School was recognized as the “Most Successful School” award recipient at the ninth annual GENIUS Olympiad, which took place between Monday, June 17 and Saturday, June 22 at SUNY Oswego. The Olympiad included international students submitting a total of 1,657 projects in regional competitions with 789 accepted for the finals. The award is based on the number of participants and the total awards received.
