Eighth-Grader With BB Gun At School Charged In Hudson Valley A Dutchess County middle school student has been arrested for allegedly bringing a BB gun to school despite enhanced procedures. The student was charged on Thursday, March 10 at Poughkeepsie Middle School, said Irwin Goldberg, the public information officer for the Poughkeepsie School District. "District officials are reviewing video and gathering facts via internal investigation to determine how the weapon may have gotten into the school," said Goldberg.  Any information will be shared with law enforcement, he added. Covid-19: School In Area Goes To Remote Learning After Positive Case A school in the area has returned to remote learning for at least 24 hours after a person tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Wappingers Central School District, the person associated with Gayhead Elementary School in Hopewell Junction tested positive for COVID on Sunday, Oct. 25, and is currently in isolation. The school's building and custodial staff to deep clean and disinfect the building on Thursday, Oct. 29.
