Woman Kidnaps Child At NY Barnes & Noble During Supervised Visit, Police Say A woman is accused of fleeing a Barnes & Noble with her 7-year-old child during a supervised visitation, Nassau County Police announced. Charlene Smith, 41, of Fresh Meadows, was visiting with her child at the Barnes and Noble at 91 Old Country Road in Carle Place when she exited the store and “fled [the] scene with the victim in an unknown direction,” detectives said. Following an extensive investigation, Nassau County Police Aviation Unit Helicopter 4 located Smith and the child in the parking lot of Roosevelt Field Mall, police said. Woman With Westchester Residence Charged With Abducting Daughter Karin Wolf, a founder of the Women's Civil Liberties Union, was charged by Glen Rock police with abducting her 14-year-old daughter after a search led to her capture in Connecticut.
