3 Hudson Valley Companies Announce Around 300 Layoffs Several hundred Hudson Valley workers will lose their jobs as three companies, either close, merge or cutback on production. The companies, all located in Orange County, Frito-Lay and Gen-Pak, both in Middletown, and Amscan in Newburgh, filed WARN Notices with the state that inform them of upcoming layoffs. Frito-Lay said it would lay off 88 workers beginning on Friday, Aug. 30 due to construction projects at the plant. Weekslong Hutchinson River Parkway Lane Closures Start Motorists planning on traveling on the Hutchinson River Parkway can expect delays of up to 20 minutes for several weeks as contracting crews begin an extensive construction project in the area. The closures now underway are expected to last through Friday, May 10, leading to lengthy delays. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert to Westchester residents, warning that there will be single and double lane closures from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays on the parkway between Exit 7 (North Avenue) and Exit 30 (King Street).
