Semi-Pro Footballer Caught With Cocaine In NY High School, Police Say
A semi-professional football team ended its affiliation with a New York school district after a player trespassed on a high school campus with cocaine, police and team officials said. Jonathan Hammond, 32, was arrested at Glens Falls High School in Warren County following a brief pursuit on Saturday, June 28, according to Glens Falls Police. Three people were taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Westchester, village officials said. According to a statement issued by Sleepy Hollow Mayor Martin Rutyna on Thursday, May 22, ICE agents notified the Sleepy Hollow Police Department around 5:30 a.m. that they would be attempting to serve an immigration warrant on Cortlandt Street. A city in Westchester will pay $50,000 to an activist as part of a settled civil rights lawsuit filed after his arrest at a city council meeting. According to court documents filed in July in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the City of Yonkers will pay the sum to settle a lawsuit filed by activist Hector Santiago in September 2023 following his arrest at a city council meeting in 2022. Stop & Shop announced they plan to close 32 underperforming stores, including seven in New York. The supermarket said on Friday, July 12, that the closures allowed it to take the next steps in its plans to position the company for growth.
