Man Steals Snickers Bar In Yorktown, Police Say
As proof that the law applies to even the smallest crimes, a 55-year-old man was nabbed after pocketing a Snickers candy bar without paying for it at a Northern Westchester store, police said. The arrest followed an incident on Thursday, Feb. 8 at around 10:30 a.m., when an employee at the COCO Farms store at 3700 Barger St. in Yorktown reported a larceny to the town's police department. According to Yorktown Police, an officer arrived at the store and met with the employee. Three men and a woman all face grand larceny charges after stealing more than $1,700 worth of merchandise from a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Northern Westchester, police said. The arrests resulted from an incident on Friday, Dec. 1 around 2:30 p.m., when staff at the Dick's Sporting Goods store located in the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown at 650 Lee Blvd. reported a larceny in progress, according to Yorktown Police. A 30-year-old woman was hit with drunk driving charges following a crash that left her briefly unresponsive in Northern Westchester, police said. The arrest resulted from an incident that happened on Wednesday, Sept. 27 around 2 a.m., when a Yorktown Police officer responded to the area of 1290 East Main St. where a woman had been reported unresponsive but breathing. An animal shelter in Northern Westchester has asked the community for information after a dog was found chained to the shelter's front door. Adopt-a-Dog in Armonk said in an announcement on Monday, Nov. 7, that the dog was abandoned at the shelter in the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 5.
