Concrete Truck Destroys Bridge In Hudson Valley
A wooden bridge in the Hudson Valley is no more after it was shattered by a concrete truck. The crash happened in Ulster County Thursday, June 2, in Marbletown, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said a concrete truck was driving east on County Route 6 at around noon when it struck a bridge near the Gate House at Mohonk Mountain. On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed. Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured. At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century.
