The awards ceremony featured remarks by Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, and William J. McGrath, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Westchester campuses.
For the past two months, students have been working on developing mobile apps to help patients with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.
The competition's grand-prize winner was the family team of Mark Aldrich (Soundview Prep) and Lindsay Aldrich (Yorktown HS) of Yorktown.
Their winning app is called Care Connect.
"Win or lose, we were very happy to be a part of this, and have everyone work together to benefit the community," Lindsay Aldrich told Daily Voice. "Our app's purpose is to connect caregivers - to help them work together, and lesson the burden of their responsibilities. The contest has been a lot of fun, and a great opportunity to meet a lot of people."
Top prize included $1,000.00 cash, a few electronic goodies, a spot of honor at Astorino's 2015 State of the County Address on Wednesday, April 22, and a chance to pitch their app to industry experts.
Fox Lane High School's team took the top prize in the "Usability" category.
