The recommended general budget for the upcoming academic year is approximately $81.9 million, while the proposed kindergarten through fifth-grade transportation budget is nearly $1.8 million, according to a budget fact sheet published by the Peekskill City School District.
The proposed budget requires a 2.62 percent tax levy increase, just shy of the 2.67 percent tax cap.
The benefits of the proposed budget for students will include smaller class sizes, more support for literacy and reading, more programs for gifted students, and an additional elementary school librarian, according to the fact sheet.
