Peekskill Security Aide Provides Mentoring To Students

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill High School is more than just the place Edward “Pete” Peterson earns a living, it is his alma mater -- and the hundreds of students it houses are his family, according to the security aide’s recent profile in Westchester magazine.

One of the many students that Peterson protected, guided, and boosted -- basketball star and hometown hero Elton Brand – once expressed his gratitude by giving him a car, the Westchester magazine piece said.

Education officials have piled the accolades on the 1980 grad as well, with the school’s principal calling him “sincere” and praising him for tackling things that are well beyond the call of duty – like acting as a sports announcer for after-school games, the “Westchester” magazine story said.
