Treptow's biography became part of Senator Murphy's Veterans' Moving Wall currently on display at the school.
Known as "Dutch," Treptow served two hitches in the Navy, first during World War II, then Korea. After leaving the service, Treptow pursued a career with Prudential Insurance, then became a successful business owner, running the Red Shutter Inn.
Dedicated to serving the Peekskill community and his fellow servicemen, Treptow has been a member of the Elks since 1958, as well as a volunteer fireman, a Mason and a member of the American Legion.
"Men like Dutch helped build this country," Murphy said. "He willingly protected our freedom not once, but twice, and he continues to be a role model for the children of our community."
