PEEKSKILL, N.Y. The Peekskill Embark Drama Club will hold its annual drama performance on Friday and Saturday night at Peekskill High School.
This years production is an adaptation of three of O. Henry's most beloved short stories entitled Three Gifts From O. Henry."
Performances will be held at 7:30 pm. and admission is $7 for students and $10 for adults.
This is our own adaptation, weaving together the wonderful characters of The Gift of the Magi, The Last Leaf, and The Cop and the Anthem, said Katie Schmidt Feder, the Peekskill High School drama director.
The show, with its holiday themes of giving, sacrifice, tolerance, love and redemption and a generous dose of fun should appeal to the whole family, she said.
This year also brings a brand new name for the club, now called the Red Devil Repertory.
The cast and crew has worked to capture the feel of New York City circa 1905, with the set complete with painted cobblestones, street lamps, a brownstone stoop and garret window. Costumes were developed in a costume workshop funded by Peekskill Education Foundation and include full skirts, bowler hats, corseted waists and puffy sleeves.
To honor the themes of giving during this time of year, the club is asking audience members to bring one or two of canned or non-perishable food items to donate in the performance lobby to benefit Freds Pantry. There will also be a collection at intermission for the Jason C. Paige scholarship fund.
