Peekskill Teens Charged In Robbery Attempt, Police Say

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Two Peekskill teenagers were involved in a theft case early Sunday morning in Cortlandt, according to the New York State Police.

A 49-year-old Cortlandt man called the police at approximately 1:23 a.m. to report a burglary in process at his Laurel Road residence. The man told state troopers that he saw two people inside his 2015 Acura, which was parked on the street, and retrieved his gun and went outside, according to police.

The man said one of the suspects pointed what he thought was a weapon at him and the man fired one shot, missing the suspect, said police.

The suspects, ages 15 and 16, fled on bicycles and were found several miles away by troopers. They were both charged with petit larceny. The 16-year-old was given an appearance ticket and is due in the Town of Cortlandt Court Friday, Sept. 4. The 15-year-old was issued a family court appearance ticket and is due at Westchester County Probation Thursday, Sept. 3, according to officials.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call investigators at State Police Barracks in Cortlandt at (914) 788-8044.
