Drunk Driver Had His Kids In Car, Peekskill Police Say

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — A 47-year-old Peekskill man was arrested Saturday and charged with driving drunk with his children in the car, police said.

Seymour Corrodus was stopped at 6:30 p.m. after Police Officer Ed Lemp saw him driving at a high rate of speed in the 100 block of Union Avenue, according to the police report. Corrodus's two daughters, ages 9 and 10, were in the vehicle, Lemp said.

Corrodus refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol concentration, and failed numerous sobriety tests. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, a misdemeanor, and held without bail for arraignment in City Court, police said. His daughters were turned over to a family member and child protective services was contacted.

  • Robert Casey, 19, of Peekskill, was arrested on July 3 at 7:20 p.m. on the 1000 block of Main Street and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.  The arresting officer was Nick Franco. Casey was charged with assaulting an acquaintance, who received a laceration and bruising to his face, police said. He was held for arraignment in city court without bail.
  • Alvin Anderson, 34, of Peekskill, was arrested on July 4 at 11:10 p.m. on Smith Street and charged with two counts of unlawfully dealing with fireworks. Arresting officers were Sgt. Sam Kenan and Nick Franco. Responding to a complaint of fireworks, they saw Anderson lighting off bottle rockets, according to the police report. Anderson was charged with possession of fireworks and released on his own recognizance. The following day at 8:45 p.m., officers again responded to Smith Street on a report of fireworks and again found Anderson lighting bottle rockets, according to police reports. Anderson was charged with a second count of fireworks possession and is due in City Court on July 23 to answer both charges.
  • Joseph Dabbs, 39, of Peekskill, was arrested on July 6 at 8:20 p.m. on the 1400 block of Crompond Road and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Anthony Nappi was the arresting officer. Dabbs was accused of slamming an acquaintance to the ground during an altercation, causing a facial laceration, police said. The victim was treated and released at Hudson Valley Hospital, and Dabbs was held for arraignment in City Court.
