The crash took place in Putnam County at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, when James Fordham, 54, and his 12-year-old son, Dominick Fordham, were heading eastbound on Route 301 near Forest Court in Kent when a car stopped to make a right turn in front of the motorcycle, said Kent Police Chief Kevin R. Owens.

Fordham attempted to stop but lost control and slid off the roadway and into a ditch and some trees, the chief said.

The father was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and the son was taken by ambulance to the same hospital, Owens said.

Their condition was not available Monday morning.
