Born July 25, 1924, in Port of Spain, British West Indies, she was the daughter of Vicente Perez and Marie Nicol. She graduated from the Royal Victoria Institute in Port of Spain. During World War II, she worked as a secretary at the British Naval Base in Port of Spain and then with the U.S. Navy there. Following the war, she worked for the U.S. Army. On Dec. 12, 1947, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, she married Ismael Del Carmen Rodriguez, who died June 20, 2014.
Besides being a full-time homemaker, she worked part time at Catholic Charities and St. Joseph's Home. She also was active in the Assumption School's Mother's Club in Peekskill, and the East Fishkill Seniors. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Myrna Rodriguez of New York City, Robert Rodriguez and Jeanne Hickey of New York City, Gilda and Fletcher Thompson of Annapolis, Md., Mary Catherine and Vincent Gaglioti of Hopewell Junction, Gerard Rodriguez of East Fishkill, Christopher Rodriguez of East Fishkill and Johanna and James Douglass of Easthampton, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment in Assumption Cemetery.
