PEEKSKILL, N.Y. City police made two unrelated felony robbery arrests this week, one involving a robbery in February.
Joseph McMillan, 41, of Lake Peekskill was arrested Saturday, April 21, at 12:15 a.m. and charged with first-degree robbery, a class B felony, on Lyman Avenue by Police Officers Matt Basso and Carl DeMarco.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the A-Plus Market on the 800 block of N. Division Street and learned that the clerk had been robbed at knifepoint by white male who fled on foot. Peekskill Police, with assistance from the Westchester County Police Aviation and K-9 units, located a vehicle believed to belong to the suspect in the Highland Park neighborhood behind the A-Plus.
Officers Basso and DeMarco set up surveillance of the parked vehicle and later spotted McMillan as he exited a wooded area and attempted to flee, according to police reports. McMillan was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was held for arraignment in city court and later taken to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla without bail.
George Oglesby, 26, of Peekskill, was charged with first-degree robbery on Friday, April 20, at 10 p.m. on the 1000 block of N. Division Street by Police Detective Todd Gallaher. Detectives investigating a Feb. 16 robbery of an individual at the Dunbar Heights Housing complex developed Oglesby as a suspect and took him into custody without incident, police said. Oglesby is the second individual charged in the gunpoint robbery of a 24-year-old male. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected, police said.

Assault: Blake Mayer, 21, of Peekskill, was arrested on April 17 at 8:40 p.m. and charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, on the 700 block of N. Division Street by Police Officer Nick Franco. Mayer struck another person in the face with brass knuckles, police said. Mayer was arrested after chasing the victim into a home, police said. The victim was treated for facial lacerations and the suspect was held for arraignment.
Under the influence: Eric Tutino, 31, of Yorktown, was arrested on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, on the 800 block of Main Street by Police Officers Matt Basso and Ed Lemp. The officers were responding to a report of a suspicious male when they encountered Tutino, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, police said. Further investigation revealed Tutino to be in possession of 28 tablets of Clonazapan, a prescription narcotic for which he had no prescription, according to the police report. Tutino was taken into custody and held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.
Disorderly: Desiree Spiering, 34, of the Bronx, was arrested on April 20 at 2 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, on Buena Vista Ave. by Police Officer Orlita Simmons. Officers responding to a report of an incoherent female found Spiering intoxicated and combative, police said. She was taken into custody after she became violent, according to the police report. She was held for arraignment in City Court.
Controlled substance: Samuel Conklin, 28, of Cortlandt Manor was arrested on April 20 at 6:05 p.m. and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of governmental administration, both misdemeanors, on the 600 block of Main St. by Police Officers Matt Basso and Carl DeMarco. The officers stopped a vehicle in which Conklin was a passenger and found Conklin to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine. Conklin attempted to prevent officers from recovering the cocaine and slapped and pushed an officer in an attempt to flee the scene, police said. He was taken into custody and held for arraignment in City Court.
Heroin possession: Richard Carter, 49, of Peekskill was arrested on April 21 at 2:35 a.m. and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 500 block of Smith Street by Police Officers Len Mignini and Ed Lemp. Carter was stopped after being observed to be visibly intoxicated and walking in the roadway, according to the police report. Further investigation revealed him to be in possession of 10 bags of heroin, police said. He was held for arraignment in City Court.
