Peekskill Winter Parking in Effect

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - The City of Peekskill has announced a winter parking weather alert that is in effect starting at 8 p.m. Friday due to expected snow.

The National Weather Service is calling for snow after 4 a.m. overnight into Saturday with a low of around 20 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Snow will continue into the day Saturday until around 1 p.m. with a total snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

All overnight parking from 8 p.m. forward on non-alternate side streets is prohibited. Overnight parking is only permitted on the streets where alternate side of the street parking is allowed.

Vehicles found in violation of such ordinances will be towed at the owner’s expense and fined $50. Motorists are asked to cooperate to ensure that snow removal operations can be completed without hindrance from illegally parked vehicles.

City officials stressed that the weather alerts are rescinded only once snow removal operations are completed and not immediately at the conclusion of the storm.
