Peekskill Veterans Memorial Pool Opens Saturday

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The Peekskill Veteran's Memorial Pool in Depew Park will be opening just in time for the three-day Memorial Day weekend.

The pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday before closing again until the summer opening on June 23.

City residents may be pleasantly surprised to see the renovations made to the pool's bathhouse, which has been under renovation for the past year, said Peekskill recreation supervisor Janine Cullen.

"The pool bathhouse has been completely renovated on the inside and it looks pretty awesome," Cullen said. "There is new tile, new stalls, new sinks and there is a new entryway. It's still the same structure, but just updated."

There is also a concession stand, which will not open until June 23.

All city residents over age 4 are required to get an ID card at the recreation department office in order to use the pool and guests must be accompanied by a resident. Two forms of identification are required to prove residency, such as a driver's license, car registration, a household bill such as a telephone, cable or electric bill, or a Medicare or Medicaid card with an address listed.

The fee to get an ID card or have one renewed is $10 for children ages 5-17, $15 for adults and $20 for nonresidents.  The fee covers the first entry to the pool for the year.

Season passes for individuals range from $85 for adults residents and $150 for nonresidents. Season passes are offered in a variety of ways.

"I would say residents would want to come into the office and talk about what kind of passes work best for them because we have lots of different choices," Cullen said.

Passes for children are $60 for residents to $100 for nonresidents.

Season passes for resident families range from $125 for three members to $145 for five members. Additional family members can be added, with $20 per child or $40 per adult. Season passes are also available for nonresidents for an increased price.

Day passes for children ages 5-17 are $7, while adults will pay $10 and seniors ages 60 and up get in for free.
