The Peekskill High School gymnasium on Elm Street remains open as an emergency shelter with cots, food, water and coffee for residents in need.
Temperatures are expected to dip down to about 39 degrees overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Power was returned to many of the city’s neighborhoods Thursday, and most of the traffic lights on city roads have been restored, according to city officials. Route 202, Depew, Wells, Ringgold and Union all had power restored.
Peekskill City Hall is operating on normal hours, as was the Field Library, United States Post Office and The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce office.
The Peekskill City School District and Hendrick Hudson School District have canceled classes Friday.
