Peekskill Pubs Get Rave Reviews From The Media

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The New York Times had some kind words for the new Quiet Man Public House on North Division Street in its Jan. 6 edition.

Dining reviewer Emily DeNitto complimented the Irish beer selection and traditional old country decor, as well as the food, including appetizers like the cheddar ale toast and entrees like the Shepherd's Pie.

"This is a place that takes its beer, and the authentic Irish pub experience, seriously," said DeNitto before giving the pub a favorable "worth it" review. The full review can be found here. 

This comes only a few weeks after two other city bars were named to the annual best bars list by Westchester Magazine in its January issue. The Peekskill Brewery at 55 Hudson Ave. and The Birdsall House at 970 Main St. were both named among the 31 bars chosen for the list.

Writer Jeanne Muchnick chose The Birdsall House for the list because of its ambience as a casual beer joint and its wide selection of drinks. 

"It’s the unassuming atmosphere, emphasis on local craft selections, abundance of half-drafts and exotic rarities that have us returning time and again," Muchnick wrote. 

The magazine named Peekskill Brewery to the list for its food but especially for its selection of 16 house made craft beers.

"The icing on the cake—or, dare we say, the foamy froth on the proverbial pint—is that this is a working brewery devoted to local hops, meaning that what’s on draft is feisty, fresh, and perfect," said Muchnick.
