Peekskill Man Charged With Choking Neighbor

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – A city man was arrested last week for choking his neighbor during an argument.

Curtis Coachman, 48, became involved in a dispute on Nov. 21 at 11:25 a.m. with a neighbor in the Stuhr Gardens development that led to a physical altercation, police said.

During the dispute, Coachman choked the victim, and punched him numerous times, according to police.

After the assault, Coachman took a telescope that belonged to the victim and had been left outside the victim’s home.

Coachman was charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault, class D felonies, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, by Police Officer Chris Colucci. He was held for arraignment in city court.

Other arrests reported by Peekskill Police for the past week:

Gregory Legett, 53, of Peekskill was arrested on Nov. 26 at 10 p.m. and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, on the 900 Block of Main Street by Police Officer Dan Labodin.

Leggett was stopped after being observed driving erratically on Main Street and arrested after it was determined he was driving while intoxicated. A chemical test determined Leggett’s blood alcohol concentration was .22 percent, which led to the aggravated DWI charge.

Leggett was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in city court on Dec. 1.
