Peekskill Man Charged in Connection to Burglaries

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – A city man has been arrested and charged in connection to a series of burglaries and several attempted break-ins of city gas stations, police said.

Keith Dillon, 22, who is homeless, was arrested on Feb. 29 at 3 a.m. and charged with three counts third-degree burglary, a class D felony, and two counts of third-degree attempted burglary, a class E felony, on Paulding Street. Dillon was arrested after police said they responded to a reported burglar alarm at the Getty Gas Station at 529 Highland Ave. on Feb. 29 at approximately 2:55 a.m.

When police arrived they said they spoke to a witness who described the person attempting to break into the building. Officers Mary Greenan and Sue Bielomyza said they spotted someone who matched the description the witness gave about five minutes after the attempted break in.

An investigation conducted by Police Det. John Bennett resulted in Dillon being charged with attempted burglary for this incident as well as other incidents that had occurred over the past month, police said.

Dillon, who said he is homeless, is alleged to have entered the Stop and Go Deli on two occasions as well as Ron’s Sunoco and the Highland Mini-Market, police said. He was held for arraignment in city court without bail.
