Make Safety A Priority This New Year's Eve

PEEKSKILL, NY -- Whether you're staying local this New Year's Eve or traveling to nearby places like White Plains or Poughkeepsie you'll need to stay sober or let someone else do the driving.

City, state and county police will be out in force Saturday night and Sunday morning working to keep drunk drivers off of area roads.

For those travelling this weekend the New York State Thruway Authority will be providing free coffee and hot tea to travelers on New Year’s Eve at each of the 27 Thruway travel plazas from 11 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday including ones in Ardsley, Sloatsburg, Modena, Plattekill, Ramapo and Ulster. The full list can be found here.

For those planning on going to New York City, you're best bet is taking the train right from the Peekskill station. Metro-North will be offering frequent service to and from Grand Central Terminal all day and into the early morning hours of New Year's Eve. Outbound trains leaving the city will be provided throughout the early morning hours up until the start of the normal Sunday schedule at 5:35 a.m.
