CORTLANDT, NY -- Hudson Valley Hospital Center and Entergy will conduct an emergency training drill Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the emergency department near the ambulance entrance.
The annual exercise helps train hospital staff on how to receive, treat and decontaminate patients who may have been involved in a radiation accident. In the event of an accident, Entergy workers would likely be brought to HVHC since it is the closest hospital to Indian Point. Members of the Hospital staff including nurses, physicians, members of the radiology, security, and housekeeping staffs are expected to participate. In addition, members of Entergys Radiation Protection team, Verplank Ambulance, New York State Police and other EMS agencies will also take part in the drill.
