Bonnie Weaver had a feeling that it was her lucky day when she walked into a Stewart’s shop in Wappingers Falls and a “Royal Riches” scratch-off ticket caught her eye.

The 61-year-old Hopewell Junction resident told Lottery officials that she had a feeling that that one was meant for her, and her intuition paid off.

Weaver scratched off the $1,000,000 top prize and became Dutchess County’s newest Lottery millionaire, state lottery officials said in a release.

Weaver chose to take the one-time lump sum amount of $516,204 after required withholdings, they said.

“I walked into Stewart’s, saw the ‘Royal Riches’ ticket and thought ‘that’s it’,” Weaver told lottery officials. “I brought the ticket home and scratched it the next morning. I just kept scratching and asked my grandson, ‘Does this say $1,000,000?’”

“I didn’t think it was real,” she said. “I felt nauseous and got sick three times I was so excited!”

She claimed her jackpot prize in January at the Lottery’s Fishkill Customer Service Center.

Weaver, the 14th New York Lottery player to snag a prize of $1,000,000 or more in 2016, called the win a “Godsend.”

She said she planned to pay off her mortgage, buy a new car, and update her kitchen floor.

The New York Lottery said it contributed $41,755,794.14 in aid to Dutchess County school districts during fiscal year 2014-15.
