It has been a year and a half of stormy Peekskill council meetings in which time the Democratic Party-controlled Mayor and City Council have been charged with racism by me, city workers and members of the public. Now this same Democratic Party has stooped to new lows. They have revived the old Willie Horton tactic of trying to use what they consider to be a scary Black man- me- to turn white voters against a particular candidate or political party. I was absolutely appalled to read in The Daily Peekskill that the Democrats were accusing me of helping local conservatives get a third party line. Why would they make up such a blatantly false allegation if not for political manipulation? Apparently getting thrown off the Independence line has made the Democrats desperate. Of course if I did help the conservatives, there certainly is no news there. It is no secret I want the Foster administration out, but I didnt. So what the Democrats did was hope to cast me as this scary Black man associated with this new third party in hopes of scaring off white voters. I think what they did, in reality, was misread this community. It is this local government I have been critical of, not the citizens of Peekskill. Shameful behavior from a political party that has denied any racist actions for almost two years! Using Willie Horton race-baiting is another sign that these Democrats just dont get it and this city deserves better!
