PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Residents who tune in to the city's cable access channel this month will see what has become something of a holiday tradition - the annual city employee holiday carol.
On Monday at 5 p.m. city employees gathered in front of City Hall on Main Street to record a rendition of the holiday classic "Winter Wonderland." City videographer Mike Miner said he records one every year with the city staff.
"It's a nice thing for the city," Miner said as he got his camera ready for action.
But as Miner found out Monday, such an event isn't always easy to execute.
A city truck had to be brought in to add some light to the shoot when the area was deemed too dark to film. Then the boombox radio that the carolers needed to sing along to wasn't loud enough to be heard over rush hour traffic.
And then there was the challenge of getting several dozen chilly employees to sing and wish everyone a happy holiday season in unison. The finished results will run later this month.
"It took three takes but we got it," said Mayor Mary Foster afterwards. "I'm sure Mike will make it sound good."
