Gateway Chamber Clothing Swap Offers Bargain Threads

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce is throwing a party Wednesday night that should appeal to Westchester clothing lovers.

The chamber is throwing a clothing swap fund-raiser at The Cove restaurant at 5 John Walsh Blvd. from  6-9 p.m.

A $20 admission gives you a 16'' x 19'' shopping bag. which participants can fill with gently used clothing. An additional bag can be purchased for $10. The bags are being provided by Domenic's Cleaners and includes discount coupons for dry cleaning.

"We wanted a fun event that would bring the community together that wasn't as chamber-focused as others," said Lauren Brady, chamber assistant director. "We're working with Jan Peek House and Bargains Galore Gift Shop, and those charities will be at the event giving out their information and they'll get the clothes that do not go that night."

Brady said that for the swap the chamber has received a large amount of high quality clothing, which she has been folding and organizing over the past week.

"We have clothes for newborns, lots of baby girl clothes, teens, tweens, and we do have some teen guys stuff," Brady said. "We have women's sizes 0-18 and a huge bucket of each size, we have men's polo shirts, suits and dress shirts. And we have tons of purses for women and accessories and scarves."

There will also be a complimentary wine tasting sponsored by D. Bertoline and Sons and complimentary hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks provided by The Cove Restaurant. There will also be a cash bar.
