There's Plenty To Do This Weekend In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - From live music to theater, there's plenty to do this weekend in Peekskill.

On Friday, 12 Grapes will host Andrea & the Armenian Rug Riders, playing some of the greatest classic rock tunes of all time from Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, the Beatles and more. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 or $5 with dinner entree.

Also on Friday there will be an open Mic night at the Peekskill Coffee House hosted by Andy Rice. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Starting Friday  at 7 p.m. in front of the Bean Runner Cafe the Peekskill Trolley starts Christmas Light Tours around the City. Check their website for more information. 

On Saturday at The Beanrunner Cafe there will be a night of New York Latin Jazzwith Tony Pastrana starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

Also on Saturday Tom Cobb and Clairibell will perform acoustic rock at the Peekskill Coffee House. The show starts at 8 p.m.

On Saturday at 12 Grapes, Johnny Federico's Johnny Fedz and Da Blues Boyz will perform some of the best Bluez this side of the Mississippi. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 or $5 with a dinner entree.

On Sunday, The Paramount Center will present "Don Giovanni" at 1 p.m. The film stars Peter Mattei as the philandering Don, with Bryn Terfel as his sidekick Leporello, and the velvety voiced Anna Netrebko as the much-abused Donna Anna. This audience favorite, for both its surprisingly modern plot and soaring melodies, is broadcast live from opening night at La Scala, with Daniel Barenboim at the podium.

Tickets are $16 for members, $17 for seniors and students (weekdays only) and $20 for the general public.

Later Sunday evening the Paramount will present the film "Higher Ground" at 7:30 p.m. Acclaimed actress Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) makes her directorial debut with this look at a tight-knit spiritual community thrown off-kilter when one of their own begins to question her faith. Tickets are $7 for members, $8 for seniors and students(Mon-Thurs. only) and $9 for the general public.

On Sunday, the band Hazbins will perform folk-influenced rock at the Peekskill Coffee House starting at noon. Admission is free.

On Sunday, Noo Moves Entertainment's Artist Appreciation Showcasewith Gospel Music, Fashion Designers, and Poets will take place at the BeanRunner Cafe. This special Christmas extravaganza will start at 4 p.m. and admission is $5.

Also on Sunday the Peekskill Museum will hold its annual Christmas Party from 2 to 4 p.m. at the museum, located at 124 Union Ave. Kids can say hello to Saint Nick and enjoy lots of Christmas goodies. Also appearing will be the Mary Crescenzo Trio, who will be playing favorite holiday songs with a jazz twist.
