PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The bagpipes were blaring and the Guinness was flowing Saturday afternoon as the fourth annual Hudson Valley Irish Festival returned to Peekskill.

Visitors from all over the region came to the Peekskill Riverfront Green to celebrate Irish music, food, culture along with their fellow Irish-Americans, said organizer Dan Dennehy.

“The festival was established to bring people in the Hudson Valley together because there’s a lot of Irish people that live here,” Dennehy said . “We’re lucky that we have a world of talented Irish traditional musicians that live around here and it’s also a way to showcase them to other people.”

Local Irish musicians like Jameson's Revenge, Derek Warfield, Tim Murphy and Deirdre Ryan took to the stage and performed during the day-long event.

“It’s one thing to expose people to new talent; it’s another to showcase your own talent,” Dennehy said. “We’re doing our best to keep a highlight on our own gifted musicians, artists and storytellers.”

All of the proceeds from the event go to the Hudson Valley Irish Center, which works to bring in Irish authors, Irish musicians, and lessons on Irish culture, explained Dennehy.
