To commemorate independence day in the city, the fire department is continuing the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza that also includes a parade in the morning an a free concert in the afternoon, Peekskill City officials said Tuesday. The parade, beginning on Highland and Peymart Avenues, is set to kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. and conclude around noon at Riverfront Green Park.
The City’s Riverfront Concert Series will follow Thursday afternoon with a free concert at Riverfront Green Park. The band "Back to the Garden 1969" is scheduled to play a set that includes dozens of hits from the Woodstock Era.
Finally, Riverfront Green Park will host fireworks beginning at around 9:30 p.m., according to city officials. Nearby parking is free but officials recommend walking, carpooling or taking the train.
"The Peekskill Volunteer Fire Department will continue to fully fund the parade and fireworks display this year, as it has done so through private donations each year since 1962," city officials said Tuesday in a press release.
