Shakespeare’s thrilling tragedy tells the tale of a young man’s murderous ambition to steal the crown. The Paramount is the first stop for this touring production and includes a post-show talk with the cast.
The mission of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival is to engage the widest possible audience in a fresh conversation about what is essential in Shakespeare’s plays.
"Shakespeare has the profound ability to clearly, succinctly, and specifically get to the heart of human nature," said Director Ryan Quinn. " If you have ever felt at a loss for words to describe an experience, I can guarantee you that at some point Shakespeare has given you the words to do so.
"I keep coming back to his plays because I want to understand myself better," he added. "I want to be able to articulate my experience on this earth better. When I was younger, I didn't think Shakespeare was about me. I thought the work was just for scholars and Englishmen, but the more that I work on his plays, the more I feel that he was talking directly to me. My hope is that we can give just a bit of that to our young audiences."
Paramount CEO Kurt Heitmann agreed. "We at the Paramount are committed to sharing the joy of live theater in this vibrant community. This production is going to wow the audience.”
The show is at 2 p.m.; tickets are $23 for adults and $17 for students/seniors/kids. Go here for more information or call the box office at (914) 739-0039.
