Peekskill Grabs 'Best Of Westchester' Awards

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — Peekskill pulled in several awards in Westchester Magazine's "Best of Westchester" issue that is now on sale.

The magazine's staff recognized brewmaster Jeff O’Neill of The Peekskill Brewery at 55 Hudson Ave. as one of the top four additions to the Westchester beer scene.

"Let’s just call it a game-changer: Ithaca Beer Company’s much-touted brewmaster comes to Peekskill. This is a bit like Peyton Manning going to the Broncos," the magazine said of O'Neill.

The magazine also recognized Anthony’s Nose, a 1,500-foot ascent, as the best hike in Westchester.

"The hike to the top of Anthony’s Nose is a 6-mile, three-hour loop, but it’s worth every step," the magazine said. "Along the trail, you get an unparalleled view of the Hudson River, and, once you reach the summit, you’ll find a breathtaking vista overlooking the Bear Mountain Bridge."

Also recognized by the magazine in the reader's choice categories:

• 12 Grapes, 12 N. Division St., was recognized by readers as the Best Wine Bar and Best Live Music Spot.

• TreatStation, 21 S. Division St., was named Best Hobby Store in Westchester by readers.

• Bruised Apple Books and Music, 923 Central Ave., was recognized by readers as the Best Music Store.
