Inflatable Jump Bag Used To Save Woman From Bridge Over I-287 Thanks to a coordinated effort between first responders and police, as well as an inflatable jump bag, a woman was saved from a bridge over a highway in Westchester.  The incident happened on Saturday, July 29 just after 7 a.m., when Westchester County Police, the White Plains Fire Department, and White Plains Police were sent to help a distraught woman who was threatening to jump from the Anderson Hill Road bridge over Interstate 287 in White Plains.  The Westchester County Police Crisis Negotiation Team was soon sent to the scene to help negotiate with the woman. …

Woman Hit By Car In Hudson Valley Critically Injured, Police Say A 60-year-old woman was critically injured after being hit by a car in Westchester.  The crash took place in White Plains around 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 near the intersection of Bloomingdale Road and Maple Avenue. According to White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong, the woman was transported to Westchester Medical Center with severe injuries. Suspect Nabbed In Fatal Hudson Valley Hit-Run Crash A Westchester man has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run crash that left one person dead and another with serious injuries. Carlos Riera-Ortiz, age 41, has been arrested by White Plains Police in connection with the crash that took place on Thursday, Feb. 17. According to police, Riera-Ortiz, of White Plains, faces two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident including death.  During the crash, officers reported that Ricardo Oxa-Cutipa, age 44, and a 37-year-old man were walking west on East Post Road when they were hit. Investigation Underway After Fatal Hudson Valley Shooting Police are investigating after a Westchester County resident was found dead on New Year's Eve. Shawn Jefferson, age 49, of White Plains, was fatally shot just before midnight on New Year's Eve on North Kensico Avenue, said Capt. Jim Spencer, of the White Plains Police. According to Spencer, officers found Jefferson after responding to reports of shots fired. Man Killed After Jumping From Top Of Area Building White Plains Police are investigating a possible suicide of a man who jumped from the top of the building that is home to Pizza Uno. The incident took place just before noon on Tuesday, March 12 at 4 Martine St., in White Plains, said White Plains Police Assistant Chief Joseph Castelli. Described as a white male in his late 20s, the man jumped from the top of the tall building which includes apartments and businesses.  Police are investigating the incident and are attempting to notify the next of kin, said Castelli.
