Man Killed After Being Ejected From SUV In Head-On Crash In Region A man from the region was killed after being ejected from his SUV while passing another vehicle and hitting it head-on. The crash happened at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10 on Route 97 in the town of Highland in Sullivan County. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, Sullivan County resident Jeffrey F. Zimmer, age 45, of Narrowsburg, Zimmer was driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer southbound on Route 97 when he attempted to pass another vehicle when he struck a 2008 Toyota Tacoma traveling north. 32-Year-Old Killed In Fiery Crash In Area, State Police Say A 32-year-old was killed during a crash while allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in the Hudson Valley, state police said.. Long Island resident Leighton L. Douglas, of Bay Shore in Suffolk County, was killed around 4 p.m., Saturday, May 22, in the Orange County area known as the Hawks Nest in Sparrow Bush, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. Truck Nearly Crashes Off Mountain Into River On Area Roadway A dump truck driver nearly crashed off a mountain and into the Delaware River after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a rock retaining wall. The incident took place in Orange County around 8:20 a.m., Thursday, in Sparrow Bush, said the Sparrow Bush Fire Department. According to the department, they were dispatched to Route 97 in the area of Hawks Nest for an accident involving a dump truck with possible injuries.
