Traffic Alert: Expect Lane Closures During Route 17K Upgrades In Hudson Valley
Commuters can expect lane closures and reductions along Route 17K in the Hudson Valley during a culvert replacement. The closures begin in Orange County in the town of Montgomery on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7 a.m., said the New York State Department of Transportation. The detours and closures will run between Route 747 and Browns Road and will include closures in both directions and shift to the eastbound lanes, DOT officials said. Driver Seriously Injured After Crash With Tractor-Trailer On I-84
The driver of a Mustang was seriously injured after crashing with a tractor-trailer on a stretch of I-84 and becoming trapped. The crash took place in Orange County around 10:15 p.m., Monday, May 24, near Route 208 and I-84 in Maybrook, said the Montgomery Fire Department. The department, which was working mutual aid with the Maybrook Fire District, and the Montgomery Ambulance Corps, was able to successfully extricate the driver, who was then airlifted to an area hospital. The driver was reportedly fleeing from police when the crash took place.

Route 17 Reopens After Overturned Tractor-Trailer Crash
A stretch of Route 17 has reopened after a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer. The crash, reported at 2:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, happened westbound in Orange County at Exit 130 (Route 208) in Monroe. Single-Lane Closure Scheduled On Route 208
Lane closures have been scheduled in both directions on Route 208 for several weeks in Orange County. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert warning that beginning on Monday, Oct. 21, there will be lane closures on Route 208 in Montgomery to allow construction crews to perform highway maintenance work. The closures will be daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Bradley Lane and Route 52 through Friday, Dec. 1. During the project, motorists in the area can expect delays and have been advised to seek alternate routes, when possible.

Several Hudson Valley motorists were among 29 drivers busted by New York State Police troopers recently as law enforcement agencies in the area continue a nationwide crackdown on drunk, drugged and distracted driving. Among the local motorists charged include: Orange County On Friday, Sept. 21, State Police troopers from Catskill arrested Tasha Purdy, 27, of Walden, for DWI. West Nyack Couple Busted With 60 Bags Of Heroin In NJ, Police Say
A West Nyack couple was carrying 60 bags of heroin when they were stopped on a local highway, police in New Jersey said. Glen Rock Officer T.J. Graziani pulled the car over on southbound Route 208 for not maintaining a lane and having no visible rear license plate just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. The passenger, 44-year-old Shawn R. Landau, tried giving police a bogus name “in an attempt to evade arrest on active warrants that were issued by the Elmwood Park and Paterson Municipal Courts,” Ackermann said.
