$10,000 Reward Offered In Stabbing Attack On Rockland Man A man who was beaten and stabbed multiple times while walking to a synagogue for morning prayers is in critical condition. Ramapo Police said the attack took place around 5:35 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, as the man approached the entrance to the driveway of the Mosdos Meharam Brisk Tashnad at 2 Howard Drive, in Monsey. During a press conference, Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel said he could not say if the "vicious assault" could be considered a hate crime, but did say a "prudent and deliberate investigation" would find if religion played a factor in the attack. Rockland Man Stabbed While Walking To Area Synagogue A man walking to an area synagogue was stabbed more than once by at least one person. The incident took place around 5:49 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, when the Ramapo Police responded to Howard Drive, in Monsey, for what they thought was a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, Ramapo Police said. When officers on the scene, it was quickly determined that the individual had been stabbed and slashed with an unknown weapon and not struck by a vehicle, police said. Firefighter Injured Battling Rockland House Fire A Monsey home was destroyed by fire as firefighters worked in hot, humid conditions to battle the blaze. The fire started around 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the home on Mapleleaf Road, said the Ramapo Police Department. Multiple fire departments were called to the scene due to the difficult conditions including working in void spaces due to the construction of an addition to the home, officials said.
