Hudson Valley Man, 24, Dies Suddenly While Visiting Caribbean, Family Says A 24-year-old man from the region has died unexpectedly while visiting the Caribbean. Dutchess County resident Jeffrey Kiluba, of Red Hook, died on Saturday, Oct. 7 during a brief holiday in the Dominican Republic, said his brother Tim Kiluba on GoFundMe. A volunteer firefighter at the Red Hook Fire Company, Kiluba was last heard from on Friday, Oct. 6, expressing excitement to see mom and dad again on Sunday, Tim Kiluba said. The crash took place in Dutchess County around 2:45 p.m., on Monday, March 20 on Route 9 in front of the Cornucopia Deli in Red Hook. An investigation revealed that a 2002 Jeep being operated by a 16-year-old girl from Milan was northbound on Route 9. A 2001 Chevrolet being driven by an 83-year-old Red Hook woman attempted to exit the Cornucopia Deli parking lot failing to yield to the Jeep resulting in a head-on collision, Red Hook Police said. Man Airlifted Following Two-Vehicle Crash In Area A 34-year-old man was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash. It happened around 11:20 a.m., Monday, Sept. 6, in Dutchess County on Route 9G in Red Hook. The man was driving a 1986 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Route 9G approaching the Rokeby Road intersection when he was hit by an Irvington woman driving a 2011 Toyota passenger car who failed to yield the right of way, according to the Red Hook Police. Fire Destroys Barn, Another Structure At Area Business More than 40 firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a barn and another structure at a business in the area. It broke out just before 9 p.m. Sunday, May 16 in Dutchess County.
