ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A Nyack man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run accident in Nyack, according to the Orangetown Police Department.

Jose Zaruma Galan, 31, was arrested after officers responded to the accident where officials said Galan tried to leave the scene, police said.

Officers reported that while speaking with Galan they could tell he was intoxicated and administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance to a friend and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22.
