Piper Day, 56, died Thursday at Nyack Hospital from complications of an undisclosed illness, according to lohud.com, which reported that the local homeless man was much beloved in the village’s Starbucks coffee shop and elsewhere.
Starbucks employees Chris Jedzinack and Ray Ramos told lohud.com that they would miss Day, who frequented the same table, often while playing recordings of music from the 1970s.
Jedzinak described Day as “as very nice guy,” and said “everyone loved him,” according to lohud.com, which reported that a memorial service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nyack Community Center.
The Hannemann Funeral Home is helping with arrangements, according to lohud.com.
