Rockland County Man Convicted In 1992 Murder Fails To Gain Early Release

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Patrick Bentz, who was convicted in 1992 in connection with the murder of Rockland garbage company owner Ken Hiep, was denied early release from the life sentence, according to lohud.com.

His next parole hearing is in May. Bentz, 48, was convicted of stabbing Hiep, of West Nyack, more than 80 times in February 1992, then dumping his body at Clausland Mountain in Blauvelt with the help Charles Hemstreet, Hiep's friend and business partner, lohud.com said.

The parole panel determined that Bentz is still a threat to society. Hemstreet, 68, is eligible to apply for early release in 2020, lohud.com reported.
