The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which recently unveiled a 2017-26 capital plan that includes a new midtown bus terminal (expected to cost up to $15 billion), also approved going forward with engineering and environmental reviews for a multitude of rail improvements known as the Gateway Project, the lohud.com report said.
If everything goes as planned, Rockland rail riders will not have to change trains, which will make their commute much better, and bus riders will have a brand-new facility, lohud.com reported.
However, the size and scope of the projects concerns the county’s liaison to the New Jersey Association of Railroad Passengers, who wonders if the Port Authority will be able to pay for everything without raising tolls, the lohud.com article said.
