A road in the Hudson Valley was closed for several hours after a fire truck from a Connecticut department crashed while its driver was allegedly texting, authorities said. NY State To Increase Patrols During Holiday Weekend To Prevent Impaired Driving
Law enforcement agencies across New York will increase patrols during the Thanksgiving weekend in an effort to prevent impaired and aggressive driving. The safety initiative will take place from Wednesday, Nov. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 28, according to an announcement from Gov. Kathy Hochul. Man Sentenced For Distracted Driving Crash That Injured State Trooper
A Long Island man will avoid prison, but still spend time behind bars after admitting to distracted driving during a crash that left a New York State Police trooper “severely disabled” in a case that was prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Crashes Linked To Cell Phone Use, Texting Nearly Double Over Last Decade
More and more drivers find themselves involved in crashes due to cell phone use, according to a new report. Accidents related to cell phone use has risen 86 percent in the past decade, according to a recently released report from TrafficTickets.com, which took a county-by-county look at crashes tied to drivers using cell phones while behind the wheel.
