GLEN ROCK, N.J. – Theresa (Tessie) J. Rivara (née Cardinale), 95, of Glen Rock, died Wednesday, Dec. 2. She was born in Hoboken and moved to Glen Rock in 1957. After raising her six children, she then helped her husband operate the Maywood Inn Restaurant, which opened in 1954. It is still owned and operated by the family.
Rivara was predeceased by her husband Victor in 1993. She is survived by her children Maria; Victor and his wife Gail; Frank; Rita; Joseph and his wife Eleanor; David and his wife Cynthia. She was a loving grandmother to Kevin and his wife Sabrina; Michael and his wife Cammie; Brecken, Jaclyn, Andrew, James, Margi, Victoria and Christina; a cherished great-grandmother to Luke, Charlotte, Tanner and Jake; and a dear sister of the Jacqueline Garibaldi, Frank and the late Peter Cardinale.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catharine Church, 905 S. Maple Ave., Glen Rock. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Trinka-Faustini Funeral Service in Maywood.
