Josephine Montengro Garafolo, 99, Of South Hackensack

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Josephine Montengro Garafolo, 99, of South Hackensack, died Sunday, Nov. 29, in the Blair House of Milford, Mass.

Garafolo worked as a waitress for more than 40 years, starting at the Blue Lantern in South Hackensack and then working at the Maywood Inn and Jorgensen's Restaurant in Maywood for many years before retiring. 

She loved life and loved to dance, she was always the life of the party. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was a member of the South Hackensack Senior Group, and a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church in Hackensack.

Garafolo was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Garofalo; loving mother of Brenda J. DalCero and her husband Neil of Milford, Mass; cherished grandmother of Joelle M. Shaver and her husband Tim of Milford, Mass; and Cheryl R. Allieri and her husband Charlie of Wellesley, Mass; great-grandmother of Taylor, Amanda and Matthew of Milford, Mass; and Michael, Isabelle and Jack of Wellesley, Mass; dearest sister of Anthony Montenegro of Fort Pierce, Fla; and the late Louis, John and Arthur Montenegro; the late Helen Garofalo,; Carmela Gaeta; and Virginia Jury. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Mass of Requiem will be at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, 72 Lodi St., Hackensack with entombment following at Hackensack Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
