Two-Vehicle I-684 Crash Causes Gridlock During Evening Commute This story has been updated. There was gridlock on a stretch of northbound I-684 after a crash initially took out two lanes. The crash, between a car and pickup truck, occurred just north of the rest area near I-84 during the evening commute on Thursday evening, Sept. 19. The left and middle lanes were closed with the car facing southbound in the northbound lanes. Before the crash scene was cleared just before 7 p.m. stop-and-go delays of two hours stretched back to Route 22/Route 138 (Exit 6A) in Goldens Bridge.

There were also earlier delays on southbound I-684 just before 9 a.m. after a crash just north of Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road) in North Salem) that is blocking the right shoulder.
